Göcek to Marmaris in a week: Wall Bay, Bozburun, Söğüt
Sailing one way removes the main snag of a week out of Göcek: there is no need to come back. You pick the boat up in the Gulf of the Twelve Islands, head west along the Carian coast, round the Bozburun peninsula and hand it over in Marmaris. About 120 nm, the longest leg 27 nm, and nearly every night in a sheltered bay. The summer wind here is a westerly, on the nose, so you sail in the mornings and keep the afternoons free.

Day by day
Göcek
- Göcek36.753, 28.940
Take over the yacht in Göcek, twenty minutes from Dalaman airport. Provision at the Migros on the main street: until Bozburun you will mostly find restaurant pontoons.
Göcek → Wall Bay
- Wall Bay36.643, 28.854
- Bedri Rahmi Bay (Taşyaka)mooring buoys36.695, 28.868
A short hop to Skopea Limanı, the western part of the gulf. Wall Bay is named after the ancient stonework on its slope; next door is Hamam Bay with the half-submerged ruins of baths known locally as Cleopatra's Bath. Anchor with a line ashore.
Wall Bay → Ekincik
- Ekincik36.825, 28.555
Out of the gulf past Kurtoğlu point and west along the high coast. Ekincik is a bay near the mouth of the Dalyan river; if you want to see the rock tombs of Kaunos, take a river boat next morning and leave after lunch — the next leg is short.
Ekincik → Çiftlik
- Çiftlik36.708, 28.238
- Kumlubükmooring buoys36.745, 28.274
Past the entrance to Marmaris bay and Kadırga island. Çiftlik is a wide bay with a sandy bottom, a beach and restaurant pontoons.
Çiftlik → Bozburun
- Bozburun36.692, 28.043
- Bozukkale (Loryma)mooring buoys36.576, 28.012
South-west along the outer coast, round the point at Bozukkale with the walls of ancient Loryma, and north into Yeşilova Bay. Bozburun is the village where wooden gulets are still built: a town harbour on the waterfront, water, fuel and shops.
Bozburun → Söğüt
- Söğüt36.659, 28.083
A short day for swimming. Söğüt is a long bay below the village with a few restaurant pontoons; it is usually quieter than Bozburun and the neighbouring bays.
Söğüt → Gebekse
- Gebekse36.697, 28.223
- Serçe Limanımooring buoys36.581, 28.054
Back south round the peninsula, past Bozukkale and Serçe Limanı, and east along the outer coast. Gebekse is a bay next to Çiftlik with the ruins of a Byzantine church ashore; anchor with a line ashore for a quiet last night.
Gebekse → Marmaris
- Marmaris36.849, 28.274
A last short leg into Marmaris bay: fuel, holding-tank pump-out and handover at the marina your fleet named. The evening is for the old town below the castle.
Coordinates are approximate, for the harbour or bay. Paste them into Google Maps or a chartplotter, and check the chart and pilot book before you moor or anchor.
Good to know
- One way: the fleet charges a one-way fee for returning the boat in Marmaris; the amount depends on the boat and the season, so check it when booking. Not every company offers it — you need a fleet with bases in both Göcek and Marmaris.
- Getting home: Dalaman airport is about 95 km from Marmaris — an hour and a half by transfer or taxi; Bodrum airport is about 130 km. Book the transfer in advance for handover day.
- Wind: in summer a westerly of 12–20 knots by day, dying in the evening. The route heads into it, so leave in the morning and finish the legs by 2–3 pm. Nearly every night is in a sheltered bay. Best months: May, June, September and October.
- Environment and papers: the Gulf of Göcek is a specially protected area, and the Blue Card system applies across Muğla province — holding tanks are pumped out at stations only. The transit log is issued at the Göcek base and covers the whole route.
