Sailing routes in Montenegro
Montenegro is a compact cruising ground: the Bay of Kotor, a deep fjord with Kotor and Perast, and the open coast down to Budva and Bar. Bases are in Tivat (Porto Montenegro) and Kotor. Legs are short, summer weather is settled and the bay goes calm in the evenings. A typical week covers the whole bay with a run south; crossing into Croatian waters needs separate clearance and rarely makes sense within a week. Season May to October.

When is the best time to charter a yacht in Montenegro?
Montenegro's season runs May to October. July and August are the peak; in June and September the sea is warm and the weather settled; May and October are the shoulder months, with cheaper boats. The cruising area is compact, so a week works at either end of the season too.
Which sailing route should I pick in Montenegro?
Sailing routes in Montenegro, planned day by day: “Tivat — Kotor”, 5 days, about 62 nautical miles; “Tivat — Budva”, 7 days, about 70 nautical miles; “Bar — Ulcinj”, 7 days, about 60 nautical miles. Each route page has the legs, miles and overnight stops.
Do I need a licence to charter a yacht?
For a bareboat charter (no skipper or crew provided), yes: a skipper's licence and, as a rule, a VHF radio certificate. Without a licence, we add a skipper, paid separately from the boat price.
What is the security deposit and how is it paid?
The security deposit is your insurance excess in case of damage, usually €1,000–8,000. It is taken at the base at check-in on a credit card issued outside Russia: charter companies don't accept Russian cards or debit cards. With a hired skipper the deposit terms may be different, and not every charter company accepts a cash deposit or deposit insurance: check with the manager.
