Who a monohull suits

A monohull is the classic single-hull sailing yacht: it sails better, especially upwind, and heels as it goes — the choice for those who want to actually sail. A week is noticeably cheaper than a catamaran of the same length, and marina berths are at the standard rate. Boats have 2 to 5 cabins and usually 1–3 heads shared between them; the saloon is below deck and the cockpit is smaller than a catamaran's.

All questions and answers

How much does a week on a sailing yacht in Greece cost?

How far ahead should I book?

In the Mediterranean (Turkey, Greece, Croatia), you can catch hot deals 2–6 weeks ahead. For the Caribbean, the Seychelles and other exotic destinations, book early, 4–8 months ahead: fleets there are smaller and last-minute discounts almost never come up.

Do I need a licence to charter a yacht?

For a bareboat charter (no skipper or crew provided), yes: a skipper's licence and, as a rule, a VHF radio certificate. Without a licence, we add a skipper, paid separately from the boat price.

Where the numbers come from and how to cite them

The RYC search agent checks the charter company portals MMK and NauSys and open booking sites about every 6 days; each boat is counted once per week, at the source price with no markup. You may cite the figures on this page with a link to it; every month and country is in the CSV and on the Prices page.

Your dates aren't in the selection? The agent will search them

The selection is the best discounts for the next three months. An alert searches every source for your dates, cabins and budget each week and sends new boats by notification or email. Free.
